Producer Amit Jani’s upcoming film Kala Hiran has been surrounded by controversy for the past few weeks. The movie is reportedly inspired by the blackbuck poaching case linked to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Amid the ongoing legal dispute and public debate, another major update has now surfaced regarding the film.
Actor Sonu Mishra, who was playing the lead role in Kala Hiran, has officially stepped away from the project. Interestingly, he was reportedly portraying Salman Khan’s character in the film. Before him, veteran actor Govind Namdev had also decided to exit the movie.
Sonu Mishra Explains Why He Left the Film
During an interview with YouTube channel Bollywood Crazy, Sonu Mishra opened up about his decision to leave Kala Hiran. He revealed that he was initially excited to be a part of the project because he got the opportunity to portray Salman Khan on screen.
The actor said that he had already started shooting for the film, but things changed once he understood the actual intention behind the project. According to Sonu Mishra, he has been working in the acting industry for more than 15 years and did not want to be associated with a film that, in his opinion, tried to portray Salman Khan in a negative way.
He stated that everyone has the right to their own perspective, but he personally did not agree with the approach being taken in the movie. Because of this, he chose to step away and focus on other projects instead.
Actor Claims Makers Wanted Statements Against Salman Khan
Sonu Mishra further revealed that after two days of shooting, he asked the makers for the script and agreement details. Being the lead actor, he wanted clarity regarding the project and its terms.
According to him, the filmmakers delayed showing him the contract, and when they finally did, certain clauses reportedly mentioned that he would have to speak against Salman Khan in the media. Sonu Mishra claimed that such conditions were completely against his ethics and professional values.
He also alleged that the makers realized they would not be able to control him once he started asking questions about the project and agreement.
Govind Namdev Had Also Distanced Himself
Earlier, veteran actor Govind Namdev, who was playing a lawyer in Kala Hiran, had also distanced himself from the film. He claimed that the makers had allegedly kept him unaware of the movie’s real narrative and intentions.
Govind Namdev reportedly said that he did not know the film was being made in a way that could damage Salman Khan’s image. Following his exit and Sonu Mishra’s recent statements, the controversy around Kala Hiran has intensified even further.
Delhi High Court Hearing on June 19
The controversy has also reached the legal stage. Reports suggest that Salman Khan’s side approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the release of Kala Hiran. The court has reportedly issued a notice to the makers, and the next hearing in the matter is scheduled for June 19.
As the legal proceedings continue, the film remains in the spotlight for all the controversial reasons.
