BLACKPINK’s Rosé has returned with a playful new solo track, New Trick, accompanied by a music video filmed entirely on the newly launched iPhone 18 Pro. Released on September 18, the song marks a lighter and more upbeat direction for the singer after the emotionally heavy material associated with her debut album rosie. The music video was directed by Dave Meyers as part of Apple’s latest “Shot on iPhone” campaign.
Rosé has described New Trick as “possibly the cutest thing” she and frequent collaborator Amy Allen have created together. The song combines garage-punk energy with a playful attitude, turning the experience of moving on from heartbreak into something brighter and more confident.
Rosé’s New Trick Brings A Lighter Side Of Her Solo Music
New Trick represents a noticeable change in mood for Rosé. Instead of leaning heavily into sadness and introspection, the song approaches heartbreak with humour, confidence and a sense of forward movement. The track was written during a busy period in New York shortly after Rosé attended the Met Gala.
She worked on it with Amy Allen, who previously collaborated with her on APT., while Andrew Wells also contributed to the production. Rosé said the song came from a period when she realised she was no longer writing sad songs in the same way. That change in mindset became part of the song’s playful identity.
New Trick Music Video Was Shot Entirely On iPhone 18 Pro
The music video is the centrepiece of Rosé’s collaboration with Apple. Directed by Dave Meyers, the video was filmed using the iPhone 18 Pro for the company’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign.
Meyers has previously directed videos for major artists including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande, and also worked with BLACKPINK on JUMP. The collaboration therefore brings together Rosé’s new music with an established music-video director and Apple’s latest smartphone camera technology.

Rosé Calls The Track One Of Her Cutest Songs Yet
Rosé’s description of New Trick reflects the song’s deliberately cheerful tone. She joked that it could be one of the cutest songs she and Amy Allen have made, while leaving fans to decide whether it surpasses APT..
The track also draws from the pop-rock sound associated with early-2000s music and Apple advertisements. Its energetic production gives the song a nostalgic quality while keeping the overall sound firmly within Rosé’s evolving solo style.
New Trick Opens A Fresh Chapter For Rosé
The release gives fans another glimpse into the musical direction Rosé is exploring after rosie. While New Trick is a standalone release, she has also indicated that she is working on her second solo album, currently expected in 2027.
For now, the song combines a playful new sound with an unusual visual concept, placing Rosé at the centre of Apple’s latest Shot on iPhone campaign. The result is another distinct chapter in her growing solo career.
