Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra, who became a household name with Aamir Khan’s blockbuster film Dangal, recently opened up about an incident from her career where she had a disagreement with a director over a particular scene. Known for her honest opinions and fearless personality, Sanya revealed that she strongly objected to a scene because she felt it did not represent women in the right way.
Sanya Malhotra Stood Against a Scene She Disagreed With
Sanya Malhotra has always been vocal about choosing meaningful projects and portraying women with dignity on screen. During a recent conversation, the actress shared that there was a time when she had a heated discussion with a filmmaker on the sets of a movie.
She explained that she did not feel comfortable with a particular scene and believed it would send the wrong message to the audience. According to Sanya, she told the director that the scene would not look appropriate on screen and that women should not be portrayed in such a manner.
The actress added that sometimes filmmakers include certain scenes thinking they will connect with viewers, but those moments may lack logic or sensitivity. Because of this, she felt it was important to express her concerns instead of staying silent.

Director Called Sanya “Very Vocal”
Sanya revealed that the director appreciated her confidence and even told her that she was quite outspoken. However, she remained firm about her opinion because she believed that an actor’s responsibility is not only to perform but also to question things that do not feel right.
Interestingly, the actress mentioned that the same scene later received criticism from audiences, which made her feel that her concerns were valid. Sanya said that whenever something does not seem correct to her, she prefers to speak up rather than ignore it.
Sanya’s Approach Towards Choosing Films
The actress also shared that she believes in selecting projects carefully instead of simply chasing commercial success. She recalled an instance when another actor advised her to take up films that guarantee money and audience attention.
Sanya said she responded by explaining that if she had followed that approach, her career might have taken a different path. Instead, she prefers taking time before signing projects and wants to be part of films that have meaningful stories.
