The duo of Rajkummar Rao and Pratibha Ranta are ready to star in the fantasy horror film produced by Dharma Productions, titled Vishkanya, starring a combination of actors from different levels of their careers in a film which revolves around an intriguing mythical world. The film is being directed by Sonal Joshi and is termed as a high-concept film, a blend of magic fantasy and supernatural horror. Rajkummar Rao And Pratibha Ranta Come Together For Vishkanya
Vishkanya will be headlined by Rajkummar Rao and Pratibha Ranta, yet another film where both actors and Dharma Productions will team up again. This will be the second Dharma production for Rajkummar, following Mr. & Mrs. Mahi which had Janhvi Kapoor in the lead.
This will also be the second film from Dharma productions for Pratibha Ranta, who has already been a part of the thriller Accused, which also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and was released on Netflix in 2026. The actress gained wide acclaim for Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies.
Pratibha Ranta Will Play The Titular Vishkanya
A major point about the production is the character played by Pratibha Ranta. She is reported to have been cast for the title role as Vishkanya, putting her right in the heart of the supernatural world in the movie.
The plot is kept tightly under wraps but sources suggest that this movie will delve into a universe which is mythological and different from the traditional horror worlds depicted in most Hindi movies. In contrast to most horror films, the mythological universe of Vishkanya will be the central theme of this film.

Sonal Joshi To Direct The Fantasy Horror
Vishkanya is directed by Sonal Joshi. Her first feature film direction was Sukhee, a 2023 comedy-drama film featuring Shilpa Shetty. Prior to directing her own films, Joshi has been an assistant director for Dhoom 3, Tamasha, and Jab Harry Met Sejal, and she has also been part of the Netflix series Bard of Blood.
The movie will soon hit the floors by the end of 2026. With Dharma Productions gradually venturing into stories of fantasy, horror, and the supernatural genre, Vishkanya makes yet another genre-driven film for their upcoming list of films.
Vishkanya Expands Dharma Productions’ Fantasy And Horror Slate
Vishkanya comes at a time when Dharma Productions continues to venture into bigger fantasy and horror films. This is because the company has films like Naagzilla and Odiyan. The Age of Illusion among other movies that it is planning to make in 2027 and years to come.
