Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, remembered for his powerful performances in Ghajini, Lagaan, Sarfarosh and numerous South Indian films, has passed away at the age of 74. His manager confirmed that the actor had been battling cancer, which had relapsed in recent weeks. The news was also confirmed by actor Yashpal Sharma, who paid tribute to his longtime colleague and friend.
Known for his commanding screen presence and memorable villainous roles, Pradeep Rawat built an illustrious career spanning more than four decades. His passing has left the Indian film industry and fans mourning the loss of one of its most respected character actors.
Cancer Relapse Claimed The Veteran Actor's Life
According to his manager, Siddharth Tiwari, Pradeep Rawat had successfully recovered from cancer several years ago. However, the disease returned around one and a half months ago, leading to his hospitalization.
His condition reportedly worsened after his platelet count dropped significantly, and despite medical treatment, he could not recover. He passed away on August 4 in Mumbai at the age of 74.

Pradeep Rawat earned widespread recognition for portraying memorable antagonists in films such as Ghajini, Lagaan, Sarfarosh and several Telugu, Tamil and Kannada blockbusters. He also became a familiar face on television through his portrayal of Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra's iconic Mahabharat.
His versatility allowed him to excel across multiple film industries, making him one of Indian cinema's most recognizable character actors.
