A new casting development has been revealed for the yet-to-be-released sports film, Lalkaara, starring Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker. The casting development reveals Sidhant Gupta joining the cast of the movie to replace Farhan Akhtar, who left the project for some reasons. This news comes before the production of the movie, with Farhan's exit being attributed to clashing schedules for another movie of his. While Farhan will no longer star in the movie, he will still be attached to Lalkaara as a producer under Excel Entertainment.
Why Farhan Akhtar Reportedly Exited Lalkaara
As per the sources, Farhan has chosen to opt out of the movie due to the clash in schedules with Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming biopic of R.D. Burman. However, being part of the film would mean months of cricket practice and shoot, which is not possible considering his tight schedule with Neeraj Pandey’s biopic. While he has decided to step back from the acting role, Farhan continues to be involved with the movie as a producer of the movie along with Ritesh Sidwhani.
Sidhant Gupta Steps Into a Key Role
Sidhant Gupta is roped in to take up the mantle from Farhan. The actor, who has been seen in various films like Jubilee, Freedom at Midnight, and Inside Edge, is said to play one of Aamir Khan's best buddies in the film. This casting is yet another important project in the career of Sidhant Gupta, who has earned a name for himself in both web series and films. Even though there has not been any official confirmation from the team, reports claim that the replacement has been confirmed.

The movie marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Gowariker after their successful partnership in Lagaan, where Aamir will essay the character of the great cricketer Lala Amarnath, the first-ever captain of India in Tests. The script is being penned down by Piyush Gupta and Neeraj Singh, who will explore the theme of friendship, rivalry, and pride of the nation in the movie. The shooting schedule is expected to start in October, but this recent development regarding casting will not hamper the plan at all.
