Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court over the upcoming film Kala Hiran, which has sparked controversy since the release of its teaser. The actor has reportedly demanded a stay on the film’s release, claiming that it violates his personality and publicity rights.

The controversy intensified after producer Amit Jani unveiled the teaser of Kala Hiran on June 12. Ever since the project was announced, the film has remained in the spotlight because of its apparent connection to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan.
The teaser features a man standing trial for allegedly hunting a blackbuck, while a gangster is shown seeking revenge over the incident. Many viewers believe the storyline closely resembles the real-life case associated with the actor.
Salman Khan Raises Objections in Court
According to the petition filed in the Delhi High Court, Salman Khan’s legal team has argued that the makers used an actor who resembles him and included elements linked to his public image, including a bracelet similar to the one Salman Khan is known for wearing.
The petition claims that the filmmakers are indirectly using the actor’s identity and popularity to promote the movie. Salman Khan has alleged that this amounts to a violation of his publicity and personality rights.
Concerns Over Reputation and Legal Proceedings
The actor has also expressed concern that the release of the film could influence ongoing legal proceedings related to the blackbuck case and damage his public reputation.
In his plea, Salman Khan has reportedly sought a complete restriction on the film’s production, promotion, release, and streaming until the matter is resolved.
The Delhi High Court is now expected to hear the matter and decide whether any action will be taken against the film.
Changed Character Names in the Film
To avoid direct references, the makers have changed the names of the characters in the film. In the teaser, the accused character is named Ayan Khan, while the gangster character is called Lion Bishnoi.
