Mumbai's Juhu Police have arrested a 47-year-old caregiver, Rashi Chhabadia, for allegedly stealing jewelry and luxury watches worth nearly ₹25 lakh from actress Raveena Tandon's family residence in Juhu.

Trusted Family Caregiver Accused of Theft

According to police officials, Chhabadia had been associated with the Tandon family since 2020. She was responsible for caring for Raveena Tandon’s 86-year-old mother, Veena Tandon, and had earned the family's trust over the years. Due to her close association with the household, she reportedly had access to areas of the residence that were generally restricted to family members.

Investigators allege that Chhabadia broke open a locker inside the family home and stole valuable jewelry belonging to Veena Tandon, along with two expensive watches owned by Raveena’s brother and film producer, Rajiv Tandon.

Theft Discovered Before Dussehra

The alleged theft came to light on October 2, 2025, when family members inspected their valuables ahead of the Dussehra festival. During the inspection, they reportedly found that the locker had been tampered with and several items were missing.

The stolen valuables are said to include gold bangles, necklaces, rings, earrings, a diamond-studded mangalsutra, and other diamond jewelry collectively valued at around ₹25 lakh.

Initial Denial Led to Police Complaint

After noticing the missing items, family members questioned Chhabadia. Police said she initially denied any involvement in the theft. However, following a complaint filed by Rajiv Tandon, an investigation was launched, leading to her arrest.

Authorities have recovered some of the stolen watches, while efforts are continuing to trace and recover the remaining jewelry.

Accused Allegedly Misled the Family

During the investigation, Chhabadia allegedly told family members that the jewelry had been handed over to another individual and would eventually be returned. However, the valuables were never recovered, prompting the family to approach the police.

Investigation Still Underway

Juhu Police are continuing their investigation into the case and are working to recover the remaining stolen items. Officials are also examining whether any other individuals may have been involved in the alleged theft.
