Ram Gopal Varma has once again opened the doors to further debates related to the ongoing Dhurandhar vs. Toxic saga. Right after the premiere of Toxic, starring Yash, Varma posted something cryptic on X saying, "Now watching #Dhurandhar again." It was not mentioned whether Toxic was referred to, but the time when the post was made led to the conclusion that it was actually an attack on Geetu Mohandas’ film.
The post received numerous comments, including those pointing out that Varma criticized Toxic indirectly, not having to name it. Others claimed that the filmmaker deliberately started a debate between the two movies that receive different audience reactions.

Ram Gopal Varma’s Dhurandhar Post Sparks Toxic Debate
The timing of Varma’s short post, which came just after Toxic’s release, could not go unnoticed. All he had to do was mention that he was rewatching Dhurandhar to leave the whole thing to interpretation from his fans.
But before long, the post was linked with the Toxic debate. One fan commented, “Bro roasted Toxic without even naming it,” while another said that Varma was “toxic than #Toxic”. There were many others who thought the filmmaker was just rage baiting in the midst of the comparison.
RGV Had Previously Criticised Toxic
This new post gained extra attention because Varma had previously stated his opinion on the relationship between Dhurandhar and Toxic. He had said before that the conflict between the two movies was a conflict between "ultra-realistic cinema and ultra-unrealistic cinema."
Varma appreciated the fact that Dhurandhar respected the intelligence of the spectators, while stating his opinion on Toxic. He was already known as one of the more active people in this debate before.

What is interesting about it is that Varma’s attitude towards the movie hasn’t always been that negative. After viewing the teaser of the movie, he complimented director Geetu Mohandas calling her an “ultimate symbol of Women Empowerment”.
Hence, the change in attitude from complimenting the director to seemingly being critical of the movie itself became one more exciting element in this debate. However, the recent post by Varma doesn’t explicitly clarify whether he was talking about Toxic or not.
Toxic And Dhurandhar Continue To Fuel Online Comparisons
The stark difference between the responses towards Toxic and Dhurandhar is now a hot topic of conversation among cinema goers. While the debate still goes on about the stories, performances and techniques used in their movies, the comparison is a topic of constant debate on social media platforms now.
Varma’s latest update on Facebook has now stirred the controversy even more. Whether Varma meant his latest update “Now watching Dhurandhar again” as a recommendation or as a hint at the Toxic movie is yet to be decided.
At the moment, the filmmaker hasn’t directly mentioned Toxic in his latest Facebook post. The viral controversy is simply due to the timing of the post and some of his earlier comments made.
