KATSEYE member Lara Raj has responded angrily to accusations that she went partying after the group’s Detroit concert was postponed at the last minute. The singer addressed the controversy through an audio message on Weverse DM on November 7, expressing frustration over claims that she and the other members had deliberately skipped the performance to enjoy a night out.
The controversy began after KATSEYE’s sold-out Detroit show was postponed on November 3, just 30 minutes before it was scheduled to begin. The decision came after member Megan Skiendiel fell ill. Soon afterwards, a video circulated on social media that allegedly showed Lara at a club on the same night, triggering criticism from some fans.

In her Weverse DM audio message, Lara questioned how people could believe that the group’s label would allow the members to cancel a concert simply to go partying. She pointed out that such a decision would waste the time and money of fans who had travelled to attend the show. Lara also made it clear that she had no desire to miss a performance for a night out.
She said she loves being on stage and would much rather perform in an arena, do what she has worked hard to achieve and make fans happy than visit a random party in Detroit. The singer admitted that the accusations had genuinely upset her. While she acknowledged that people might expect her to ignore the criticism, she said she was bothered by the claims and found them frustrating.
Viral Party Video Faces Questions Over Its Timeline
As the clip continued circulating, some fans began questioning whether it actually showed Lara partying after the Detroit concert was postponed. Several EYEKONs pointed out that the footage had originally been recorded and shared in April, following KATSEYE’s Coachella performance. Fans highlighted Lara’s appearance as a reason for questioning the video's timeline.
She had black hair in the circulating footage, whereas her hair colour had changed since then. This led some fans to argue that the video was being presented without its original context. The discussion added another layer to the controversy, with Lara's response and fans' observations challenging the claims circulating online. The footage's timing became a key point in the debate.

The Detroit concert was not the only affected performance. KATSEYE also announced changes to its Chicago and Minneapolis dates during the same week, leaving fans concerned about the group's tour schedule. The group later explained that Megan was recovering from a concussion.
She shared an update with fans, apologising for the disrupted performances and explaining that she needed time to recover safely. Other members also expressed regret over the postponed shows and thanked fans for their understanding. The late announcement in Detroit had already caused disappointment among concertgoers, particularly those who had travelled or made plans to attend the sold-out event.
Lara Says Performing for Fans Remains Her Priority
Lara's message comes amid growing attention surrounding KATSEYE's recent tour disruptions. By addressing the allegations directly, she pushed back against the suggestion that the group had cancelled a performance for personal entertainment.
Her response also highlighted how quickly unverified clips can spread and shape online conversations. While the singer made her frustration clear, the group continues to deal with the impact of the postponed dates and Megan's recovery. No new performance dates were confirmed in the update.
