Despite strong support from Aamir Khan, his son Junaid Khan could not deliver a successful theatrical debut with EK Din. The film, which also featured Sai Pallavi, was released on May 1, 2026, but failed to create much excitement among audiences. Directed by Sunil Pandey, the movie had already faced controversy even before its release.
Viewers Criticized the Trailer
Many viewers believed the trailer revealed almost the entire story of the film. Social media users also pointed out that the plot felt too familiar and lacked freshness. Because of this, audience interest remained low, and the film struggled to perform in theatres.
Junaid Khan Says He Has No Regrets
Recently, Junaid Khan appeared on journalist Vickey Lalwani’s YouTube channel, where he spoke openly about the film’s failure. The actor said he does not regret making the movie at all. According to Junaid, both he and Aamir Khan genuinely enjoyed working on the project, even though the final result did not meet expectations.

He explained that sometimes films do not work despite everyone’s efforts, and he has accepted that reality positively.
Why Junaid Does Not Want Aamir Khan as Producer Again
During the interview, Junaid was asked if he would collaborate with his father again as a producer. His response surprised many people. He admitted that working with Aamir Khan as producer on ‘EK Din’ was a “mistake.”
Junaid explained that he had initially loved the script and later decided to seek his father’s opinion. After listening to the narration, Aamir Khan became emotionally attached to the project and immediately wanted to produce it himself.
Aamir Khan Was Emotionally Invested in the Film
According to Junaid, Aamir Khan was extremely excited about finally producing a film for his son. The actor shared that his father genuinely believed in the story and wanted to support the project wholeheartedly.
However, Junaid later realized that films produced under Aamir Khan Productions often take years to complete because of the banner’s large-scale working process.

Junaid Wants to Work More Frequently
Junaid explained that while Aamir Khan is currently at a stage in his career where he can comfortably work on one film in several years, he himself is still a newcomer who needs regular projects and consistent screen presence.
Although Aamir Khan is reportedly eager to collaborate with him again, Junaid said he would prefer to wait before working with his father on another film.
