Veteran Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has finally responded to the controversy surrounding his marriage to Gauri Spratt. The actor, who recently tied the knot for the third time at the age of 61, has been facing criticism from multiple quarters, with some Hindu organizations accusing him of promoting "love jihad" while certain Islamic clerics have also questioned the validity of his marriage. Addressing the backlash for the first time, Aamir firmly rejected the allegations and defended his family's long-standing values of religious harmony.

Aamir Khan Responds to 'Love Jihad' Claims

Following his marriage, several groups, including members of the Bajrang Dal, criticized Aamir Khan and accused him of encouraging "love jihad." At the same time, reports claimed that a Muslim cleric issued a religious opinion questioning the marriage, arguing that Islamic law does not permit a Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim woman unless she converts to Islam.

Reacting to the criticism, Aamir dismissed the allegations and emphasized that his family has always respected people from different faiths. According to reports, the actor said that interfaith marriages are nothing new in his family and have always been accepted without religious pressure.

Actor Highlights His Family's Interfaith Marriages

Explaining his point, Aamir revealed that both of his sisters and his daughter are married into Hindu families, while his cousin Mansoor married a Christian woman. He also pointed out that neither his former wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, nor his current wife Gauri Spratt ever converted their religion before marriage.

The actor clarified that all of these marriages were conducted under the Special Marriage Act through civil ceremonies rather than religious rituals. He further stated that Gauri is a Christian by faith and has not changed her religion following their marriage.

Aamir Denies ₹100 Crore Skyvilla Rumours

Apart from the marriage controversy, Aamir also addressed speculation regarding reports that he is building a luxurious ₹100-crore skyvilla in Mumbai's upscale Pali Hill area.

Refuting the rumours, the actor explained that there is no new mansion under construction. Instead, the residential complex where he currently owns an apartment is undergoing a redevelopment project. According to Aamir, the decision was taken collectively by all 24 members of the housing society after a developer acquired a significant portion of the property.

He added that the redevelopment is a standard housing project and should not be mistaken for the construction of a private luxury residence.
