Filosia Films has officially announced its much-awaited feature film 'Simulacra', a futuristic sci-fi drama that promises to push the boundaries of storytelling in Indian cinema. Directed by Pankaj Sawant, the film stars Akshara Haasan and Satyajeet Dubey in lead roles and is set to premiere exclusively on Waves OTT on July 17.
A Sci-Fi Story Set in a Technology-Driven Future
Set in a near-future world where human lives are controlled by advanced neural brain chips, Simulacra explores a society in which technology companies possess the power to alter, rewrite, or completely erase people's memories. The film examines the impact of memory manipulation on identity, emotions, and human relationships.
The story follows Nayan (Satyajeet Dubey) and Nivi (Akshara Haasan), two strangers whose lives unexpectedly intersect in a world increasingly dependent on transhumanism-the integration of humans and technology.

A Love Story Shrouded in Mystery
Nayan insists that he and Nivi once shared a meaningful relationship and presents photographs stored in his neural memory vault as evidence. However, Nivi has no recollection of him, and her own memory archive is completely empty.
As Nayan attempts to revisit their shared past in search of answers, genuine emotions begin to develop between them once again. But a haunting question remains: Is their relationship a forgotten love story, or is it an elaborate simulation designed to deceive them?
Pankaj Sawant Explores Truth in the Age of Artificial Memories
Speaking about the film, writer-director Pankaj Sawant said that modern society is entering a hyper-real world where distinguishing between truth and fabrication is becoming increasingly difficult.
According to him, if people can no longer fully trust their own memories-or even physical records such as photographs, videos, and journals-then discovering the truth becomes a far greater challenge.
He explained that beyond its futuristic technology, Simulacra raises deeply personal questions about human emotions and relationships. The film asks whether love is simply an experience of the mind and heart, and whether it truly matters if that experience exists in reality or inside a carefully constructed simulation.

Blending Global Sci-Fi With Indian Storytelling
Simulacra combines internationally inspired science-fiction concepts with an emotionally grounded Indian narrative. The film aims to deliver a fresh cinematic experience by blending psychological mystery, romance, and speculative technology into a thought-provoking story.
With its unique premise and philosophical themes, the film is expected to appeal to audiences looking for intelligent and innovative storytelling.
Simulacra Release Date and OTT Platform
Simulacra will premiere exclusively on Waves OTT on July 17. Featuring Akshara Haasan, Satyajeet Dubey, and directed by Pankaj Sawant, the film promises a gripping exploration of memory, identity, technology, and the fragile nature of reality.
