The actress gave a unique Indian flavor to the red carpet of the Toronto International Film Festival 2026 with a contemporary outfit designed in the style of the classic Kanjivaram saree. Keerthy attended TIFF for the premiere of her Tamil movie titled Dorothy.
Along with Keerthy, the directors Karthik Subbaraj, actors Sananth and Rishikanth, and producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain attended the event. The movie was awarded standing ovations at the premiere.
Keerthy Suresh Gives Kanjivaram A Contemporary Twist
Keerthy's red carpet look was one in which she played around with the visual elements of South Indian traditional wear and infused it with a contemporary silhouette. Created by Karan Torani and styled by Ami Patel, the look consisted of an elaborate structured cropped top in brown gold. Rather than opting for the typical saree, the look incorporated a heavy burgundy skirt that had been inspired by the Kanjivaram way of drape and design. The skirt was characterized by its large antique-gold border with green accents.
Burgundy And Antique Gold Define The Red Carpet Look
The deep shade of burgundy made the entire look very red carpet-worthy, while the antique golden details gave the traditional touch. The complementing dupatta was in the brocade style, decorated with the gold designs and an elaborate border.
Combining the features of both classical Indian dress code and modern fashion terminology, the crop top, the skirt, and the dupatta gave Keerthy a chance to wear the essence of a Kanjivaram design without wearing the traditional saree itself.

She emphasized more on her South Indian origin with the use of jewelry as well. The dress was adorned by layered golden necklaces, originating from the state of Kerala, which featured a dramatic necklace with a black teardrop pendant in the middle. The pair of earrings that she wore were made of gold and were designed in a traditional style.
Dorothy Brings Keerthy To TIFF 2026
Keerthy’s fashion look was concurrent with the world premiere of the movie, Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The movie is Tamil and it was screened at TIFF’s Centrepiece category, where it got a standing ovation. Therefore, her presence at the event was not only about walking the red carpet but also about representing Indian fashion. Since the movie was showcasing the talent of Tamil cinema internationally, it made sense for Keerthy to include Indian elements in her look.
