Lyricist Saeed Quadri, who was associated with the music of Awarapan, recently addressed the subject in an interview. While he did not directly confirm that Mustafa Zahid's absence was specifically because of the restrictions on Pakistani artists, his comments appeared to point toward the prevailing circumstances.
Speaking to News18, Saeed Quadri emphasized that creative decisions sometimes have to be made according to the situation and the prevailing times. He stressed that the country must always remain the priority.
According to Quadri, there are several factors that influence decisions, but “the country should always come first.” His remarks have added context to the discussion surrounding Mustafa Zahid's absence from the sequel.

Mustafa Zahid Received Thousands of Messages From Fans
Mustafa Zahid had previously revealed that he received around 25,000 messages from fans asking whether he would be part of Awarapan 2. The large number of messages highlighted just how strongly audiences still associate his voice with the original film.
Interest in his possible return increased further when a recreated version of “Toh Phir Aao” was released. Music composer Amaal Mallik credited Mustafa Zahid for the original song, acknowledging the singer's contribution to the iconic track.
Mustafa also reacted to the recreated version with a heartfelt message, writing, “Borders are dangerous, but love is equally dangerous.” His response resonated with fans who have long cherished the emotional connection created by the original song.
