Veteran actor Nana Patekar's upcoming film Shakti Shalini now carries an emotional significance that was never intended when the project was being made. The actor, who passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75, had already completed his work on the Maddock Films horror-comedy before his death.

The film had wrapped its shoot in May, making his appearance an unexpected final chapter in his remarkable acting career. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Shakti Shalini stars Aneet Padda in a double role and also features Viineet Kumar Singh, Vishal Jethwa and Seema Biswas. Nana Patekar joined the cast alongside the ensemble during the film's May schedule.

When Shakti Shalini was being filmed, Nana Patekar's involvement was simply another major addition to an ambitious horror-comedy. Reports from the time confirmed that the veteran actor had joined the unit in May, while the production moved through locations across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai.

The film eventually completed its final schedule at Chitrarth Studio in Powai on May 27. Reports also confirmed that the production had completed filming, meaning Patekar's scenes were captured before the project moved into its post-production phase.

Aneet Padda Leads A Darker Chapter Of Maddock's Horror Universe

Shakti Shalini is part of Maddock Films growing horror-comedy universe and takes the franchise into a darker folklore-driven setting. Aneet Padda plays two contrasting characters — Shakti, an ordinary woman who becomes a protector, and Shalini, a vengeful spirit.

The story draws from Bengali folklore and combines supernatural elements with revenge and horror. Viineet Kumar Singh plays a key role in the conflict, while Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas add veteran acting experience to the ensemble.

What makes Nana Patekar's appearance particularly poignant is that Shakti Shalini was never planned as his farewell film. He completed his work while continuing to be active in the industry, and there was no indication at the time that the film would eventually become his final theatrical chapter.

His death has now changed how audiences are likely to view those scenes. A performance that was originally part of another Maddock horror story will instead carry the weight of being one of his final pieces of work for the big screen.

Shakti Shalini Now Carries A Different Emotional Meaning

Shakti Shalini is currently scheduled for a December 24, 2026 theatrical release, although recent reports have also mentioned speculation about a possible delay. No new release date has been officially confirmed.

For audiences, Nana Patekar's presence is likely to become one of the film's most emotional talking points. His final frame was never intended to be a goodbye, but following his death, Shakti Shalini may now become a poignant farewell to an actor whose career spanned decades across Hindi and Marathi cinema.
