South actress Trisha Krishnan has found herself at the center of a political controversy after alleged objectionable remarks made by opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin led to police action. Following a complaint filed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), headed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, Chennai Police detained Udhayanidhi on Tuesday. Actress and BJP leader Kangana Ranaut has now reacted to the development, extending her support to Trisha and Vijay.
Kangana Ranaut Backs Trisha Krishnan and Vijay
Known for expressing her opinions on public issues, Kangana Ranaut addressed the controversy through her official Instagram Story. Condemning the use of abusive language and vulgar jokes in public, she wrote that such behavior has no place in a civilized society.
Kangana stated that publicly using offensive words, double-meaning comments, and vulgar jokes should never be considered acceptable. Referring to the action against Udhayanidhi Stalin, she said that even if he secures bail, the legal action sets an important example that such conduct should have consequences.

What Did Udhayanidhi Stalin Say?
According to reports, Udhayanidhi Stalin was detained from his residence in Chennai after a complaint was lodged over his alleged remarks during a public rally. Speaking to reporters from inside the police vehicle, he dismissed the controversy, calling it "comedy."
He maintained that he neither mentioned anyone by name nor made any inappropriate remarks. Udhayanidhi also said he was prepared to face the legal process and had no fear of arrest.
Why Was the Complaint Filed?
The controversy reportedly began during a speech on the Cauvery water dispute. While criticizing the Tamil Nadu government, Udhayanidhi spoke about the issue before someone in the audience shouted Trisha Krishnan's name.
Witnesses claim that he smiled and made a comment linking the actress with the ongoing discussion, prompting loud reactions from those present. TVK later alleged that the remarks were offensive toward the actress and submitted complaints to both the Chennai Police and the National Commission for Women, seeking legal action.
Madras High Court Orders His Release
The matter also reached the Madras High Court, where Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan directed the police to release Udhayanidhi Stalin after completing the required questioning on the same day.
During the hearing, Tamil Nadu Advocate General Vijay Narayan informed the court that there was no intention to keep Udhayanidhi in custody. He clarified that the government's objective was to ensure that complaints involving the dignity and safety of women were handled appropriately.
The controversy continues to generate political and public debate, with reactions pouring in from celebrities and political leaders alike.
