A theft case involving Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel's mother, Asha Patel, has come to light. Diamond-studded bangles worth around Rs 5 lakh reportedly went missing from her residence in January 2026. After months of investigation, Mumbai Police have arrested a domestic worker in connection with the case. However, the stolen jewellery has not yet been recovered.
Diamond Bangles Worth Rs 5 Lakh Went Missing
According to reports, the diamond-studded bangles disappeared from Asha Patel's residence in January. During the investigation, police arrested 40-year-old domestic worker Seema Vinod Ghate.
Seema, who is reportedly a resident of Virar, had been working at Asha Patel's house for around one and a half years. After noticing that the bangles were missing, Asha reportedly suspected her and questioned her several times. However, Seema denied having any involvement in the theft.

Police Began Investigation After Complaint
When repeated efforts to locate the missing jewellery failed, Asha Patel approached Marine Drive Police and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The Crime Detection Team subsequently launched an investigation under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam and Police Inspector Whatkar.
During the investigation, police traced Seema Ghate to Virar and took her into custody. She was later produced before a court, which sent her to police custody until September 15.
Search for Stolen Jewellery Continues
Police are continuing their efforts to recover the diamond-studded bangles. Investigators are also checking whether the accused domestic worker has any previous criminal record.
As of now, the jewellery, reportedly valued at around Rs 5 lakh, remains unrecovered. The investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Pradeep Chaudhary along with the Marine Drive Police Crime Detection Team.
