"Spooky in Love" is a Korean romantic comedy series that features the stars Park Eun-bin, Yang Se-jong and Ong Seong-wu. This series was directed by Lee Min-soo and written by Choi Jeong-mi. The plot of Spooky in Love revolves around the 2011 movie, Spellbound. It aired on 18th July 2026 and ended on August 23, after 12 episodes. All 12 episodes can be viewed on Netflix. This series revolves around a heiress of a hotel who is capable of seeing ghosts and an ace prosecutor who fears ghosts. Ma Kang-wook (Yang Se-jong) is an outstanding prosecutor who wants to expose criminals and fight for justice. The only thing which is standing in his way is his intense fear of the ghostly. Although his profession requires him to deal with dangerous criminals, he finds a meeting with any spirit too much for him.

Cheon Yeo-ri and Ma Kang-wook meet while working together in supernatural cases related to ghosts and unresolved deaths. Professional collaboration of Yeo-ri's talent and Kang-wook's skills gradually turns into romantic relationship. One more character, Kang Min-hwan (Ong Seong-wu), plays an essential role in the story. Further story describes how Cheon Yeo-ri and Ma Kang-wook are solving supernatural cases and dealing with secrets from the past.

Spooky in Love Review: The Romance Is The Real Winner

One of the strengths that stand out in this show is the unique combination of romantic comedy and supernatural thriller. Though the ghost plot gives the drama a special identity, Spooky in Love does not focus every episode on being scary. Rather, the development of the relationship between Yeo-ri and Kang-wook is the most interesting part. Initially, there are numerous scenes of conflicts, and Kang-wook's fear of ghosts contributes to the fun.

The emotional aspect of Yeo-ri's storyline is also done well. This girl is separated from people due to her supernatural abilities for many years, and Park Eun-bin manages to convey the feeling of loneliness of her character despite her strong image.

Despite all that, the writers do not fully exploit their great idea. On the one hand, there are episodes that resemble ordinary K-drama clichés, and some supporting characters remain too flat. She looks great in styling as well. Yeo-ri definitely looks like the CEO of the luxury hotel but Eun-bin does not turn her into a classic glamour girl. Yang Se-jong does an excellent job at playing an opposite to Park. While Kang-wook should be a fearless and competent prosecutor, he is afraid of ghosts and the actor easily manages all the comedic and romantic moments of the show.

The interaction of the main characters is the only thing worth watching this drama. The conversations are quite realistic and there is no sudden love affair. Ong Seong-wu looks intriguing in the role of Kang Min-hwan despite the lack of good writing.

The drama features high-quality visual effects which suit the genre of supernatural romantic comedy. While Yeo-ri’s glamorous look adds a lot of glamour to the show, her interaction with spirits adds a certain touch of mystery. Moreover, ghost segments are not used in order to scare the viewers. There are several spirits who died without solving the mystery of their deaths, which adds emotionality to these supernatural moments and makes them related to the storyline.
