Lee Jun Young Plays A Tragic Genius Pianist
Jeong Yo of Four Hands, Two Sonatas is a talented musician by nature but because of certain hardships in life, Lee Jun Young forces him to give up his love for music. Having lost his mother at an early age, Jeong Yo has to look after his drunken father and take care of the whole family. Despite the fact that he is very fond of piano, he has to sacrifice his dreams for the sake of living.
Why Lee Jun Young Chose Four Hands, Two Sonatas
Lee Jun Young stated that there were many reasons why this drama caught his attention. One of the main reasons was because it was going to be his last project before joining the army, and since he had been working with older actors, he wanted to collaborate with actors who were of his own age. Another reason why he chose to join this drama was that he loved music.

Actor Opens Up About His Character's Relationship With Music
Regarding Choi Jeong Yo, Lee Jun Young said that the piano symbolizes something he wanted to challenge himself with but was unable to do so. Having distanced himself from the piano due to some tough moments in his life, Jeong Yo is still emotionally rooted in those times. However, meeting Kang Pio, portrayed by Song Kang, will allow him to start recovering and reconnecting with music. Lee Jun Young picked the keyword “freedom” when talking about his character, saying that Jeong Yo is a person who doesn’t want to follow a set mold.
Lee Jun Young Says Classical Music Changed Him
He further confessed that he did not know much about classical music before he prepared for the movie. However, he found himself listening to a lot of classical music because of his character development and understanding of the character's feelings. This led him to discovering the beauty of classical music. It is a discovery he considers a significant experience where he discovered an entirely new artistic world. Four Hands, Two Sonatas tells the story of friendship, romance, rivalry, and evolution of young artists at an art high school who chase their dream of becoming pianists.
