Prem Keetanu Story Overview
Vishal (Veer Pahariya) is a young man whose life is shaped by friendship, love and uncertainty about his future. His relationship with Suhani (Aafiya Sayed) becomes the central part of the story as he struggles to understand whether his feelings will ever be returned. The situation becomes complicated when Jeet (Aparshakti Khurana) enters the picture.
Unlike Vishal, Jeet appears more settled and confident, creating a romantic triangle around Suhani. The film takes the characters through college memories, parties, road trips, weddings and professional struggles while Vishal tries to find both love and a sense of purpose. The rest of the story focuses on Vishal's emotional journey and his attempts to deal with rejection, friendship and his own expectations from love.

Prem Keetanu Review: A Romcom That Loses Its Original Spark
The biggest problem with ‘Prem Keetanu’ is that it does not seem comfortable with one particular tone. It begins like a campus comedy, moves into a loud love triangle, briefly touches coming-of-age territory and later turns into a conventional romantic drama. The Hollywood Reporter India review notes that the remake loses much of the “youngness” and cultural rhythm that helped ‘Premalu’ work.
Instead, the Hindi adaptation keeps changing its shape to accommodate comedy, romance, drama and music. There are entertaining stretches, but the humour does not consistently land. The film also relies heavily on familiar romantic situations instead of developing its central relationship with enough emotional depth.

Veer Pahariya and Aparshakti Khurana’s Performances
Veer Pahariya carries the film as Vishal and gets enough emotional material to establish himself in the lead. His character is deliberately vulnerable and often overwhelmed by rejection, although the writing makes Vishal's behaviour difficult to connect with at times. Aparshakti Khurana gets some of the film's more noticeable supporting moments as Jeet.
His character is designed as Vishal's romantic rival, but the personality keeps shifting between arrogance and comic charm. Aafiya Sayed has comparatively less control over the narrative because Suhani is largely positioned between the two male characters. The review points out that the film does not give her enough independent emotional agency. Nikhil Vijay and Rakesh Bedi help provide lighter moments.
Story and Screenplay
The screenplay is at its weakest when it tries to turn Vishal's romantic disappointment into a larger emotional transformation. His love for Suhani does not always feel sufficiently developed, making some later developments feel driven by the demands of the plot.
The remake also struggles with the gender dynamics of its central relationship. Instead of fully examining Vishal's behaviour and Suhani's perspective, the story eventually moves towards a more conventional romantic resolution.

Music, Comedy and Technical Aspects
Music is an important part of the film and is used to soften transitions between its different moods. The movie also has the visual language of a mainstream youth romcom, with parties, road trips, college settings and romantic montages. However, the technical polish cannot completely hide the uneven storytelling.
The reported review's even describes a screening sound failure during one song, leaving the visuals playing without music. Ironically, that accidental moment highlighted how dependent some of the film's romantic sequences are on presentation rather than emotional writing.
What Are the Weak Points?
- Uneven tonal shifts
- Underdeveloped romance

Final Verdict
‘Prem Keetanu’ has a familiar and potentially entertaining setup, but the Hindi adaptation struggles to create an identity of its own. The film moves between comedy, romance, drama and coming-of-age elements without giving any of them enough space to fully develop.
Veer Pahariya and Aparshakti Khurana make the film watchable, while Aafiya Sayed brings some freshness to the cast. However, the uneven screenplay, shifting tone and limited emotional depth keep it from matching the charm associated with its Malayalam source.
