Yami Gautam is all set to return to the big screen with Nayyi Navelli, and the film's trailer has now been released, giving audiences a closer look at its unusual mix of family drama, comedy, fantasy and mystery. The trailer introduces Yami as Mohini, the seemingly perfect new daughter-in-law of the Awasthi family, whose arrival soon raises questions about her real identity. The film is set in Meerut and is scheduled to reach cinemas on October 16, 2026, during the Dussehra festive period.
Yami Gautam Plays The Mysterious Mohini
Yami Gautam takes centre stage as Mohini, a new bride who initially appears to be the perfect daughter-in-law. However, her unusual behaviour and mysterious presence soon make her brother-in-law Bantu suspicious.
The trailer plays with the question of whether Mohini is actually a daayan or whether there is something much bigger behind the strange events surrounding her. The mystery gives Yami a very different character from many of her recent performances.
Awasthi Family Gets Caught In A Strange Mystery
The story begins with the familiar setting of a middle-class Indian family, complete with colourful personalities, strong opinions and wedding traditions. Mohini's arrival gradually changes the atmosphere inside the Awasthi household as unexplained incidents begin to create suspicion.
Bantu's investigation becomes an important part of the trailer, but the clues eventually point towards something much larger than a simple supernatural mystery. The film reportedly connects its fantasy world to an ancient story and the idea of a saviour fighting evil.

Comedy, Fantasy And Action Come Together
Nayyi Navelli is being presented as a fantasy family entertainer rather than a conventional horror film. The trailer combines family chaos and comedy with supernatural elements, mystery and action, creating a world that shifts between everyday household situations and larger fantastical developments.
Directed by Balaji Mohan, the film is written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. The ensemble cast includes Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music.
Nayyi Navelli Set For Dussehra Release
The trailer has arrived ahead of the film's theatrical release on October 16, 2026. With its combination of a quirky family setup and a supernatural mystery, Nayyi Navelli is being positioned as a festive entertainer with a distinct fantasy world.
The film is presented by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow production. For Yami Gautam, the project also brings a new kind of role, allowing her to move between family humour, emotion, fantasy and action.
