Akhil Akkineni makes his comeback into the movies with the movie Lenin, an interesting and romantic action-drama about rural life, made under the directorship of Murali Kishor Abburu. Starring Bhagyashri Borse along with Akhil Akkineni, the movie is a combination of romance, rural politics, family sentiments, and mythology-based story-telling. The movie is a good one, with a very impressive start. But a poorly written screenplay and an unsatisfying climax prevent it from becoming a really great movie. Nevertheless, with Akhil’s sincere acting and strong emotional content, it still makes for good entertainment.

Lenin Review: Strong Intentions, Uneven Execution
It is fair to give Lenin some credit since he has tried beyond just being a regular entertainer. The film incorporates elements such as love, action, myths and politics in the village all in one storyline, and there are points where this mixture has worked quite well. Emotional scenes and action sequences give sufficient momentum to make the film interesting.
Nevertheless, there seems to be something wrong with the screenplay, making it hard for the story to flow consistently. There are too many villains, weak supporting characters and known plot twists, which lessen the emotional value of the film. Nevertheless, the movie turns out to be entertaining at some point due to the emotion, action and honest acting.
Akhil Akkineni Leads from the Front
Akhil Akkineni puts up one of the best performances of his life. While he convincingly pulls off the challenging action sequences, he does a sincere job in handling the emotional aspects as well. Growth of Akhil as an actor is seen through his performance in the movie.
Bhagyashri Borse leaves a good impression in spite of having not much screen time. She clicks well with Akhil Akkineni and manages to add charm to the romantic scenes. Easwari Rao and Sivaji have done fine supporting roles, whereas Pramod impresses in a villainous role.

The first half takes its time with the setup, but once the story gets going, it turns into a Mahabharat-inspired commercial entertainer packed with twists, mass elevation moments, action, and strong emotions.

Music and Visual Appeal
Cinematography by Leon Britto has done full justice to the village background, thus providing a good visual appeal to the movie. The songs and background score by Thaman S are very lively and support quite a few scenes in the movie effectively. Editing by Naveen Nooli has maintained a good pace for the movie, though the last part of the movie could have been more concise.

FINAL VERDICT – A familiar yet watchable template-driven commercial entertainer with engaging twists.@mrcinemaaa RATING – 3/5
PS: I wish writers/directors would tell dramas like Lenin without relying on mythological/divine references, as they’ve become…
Final Verdict
Lenin is filled with everything needed to be a good entertainer commercially but does not do so successfully. The film really works when the emphasis is on its emotional connection and the acting of Akhil Akkineni, but it fails because of the weak screenplay and hasty ending. Fans of Akhil Akkineni will appreciate the film, which marks an important step forward in terms of acting. Even though the movie can hardly be considered perfect, it definitely has a lot to offer its audience.
Rating: 2.5/5
Overall, Lenin is a decent one-time watch that benefits from Akhil Akkineni's committed performance, even if its storytelling doesn't fully live up to its ambition.
