Urvashi Rautela’s team has announced legal action against a Los Angeles-based artificial intelligence company, alleging that the firm used the actress’s name, images and videos without permission. According to a statement shared by her team, damages are currently being assessed at ₹7,000 crore.

The team has also alleged that the company generated billions of dollars in commercial value by using Rautela’s identity and content without authorisation. The development has sparked a wider conversation about celebrity personality rights and the growing use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. The dispute has also drawn a response from Sheeraz Hasan, the founder and CEO of Bollywood.AI and Hollywood.AI.

Urvashi Rautela’s Team Announces ₹7,000 Crore Damages Claim

In a statement posted on social media, Rautela’s team said it was pursuing appropriate legal remedies against the Los Angeles-based company. The statement said the damages were being assessed at ₹7,000 crore and accused the company of using the actress’s name, photographs and videos without authorisation.

Her team also issued a strongly worded warning against using Rautela’s identity for business purposes without permission. The statement urged the company to build its AI business and brand but keep the actress’s name out of its commercial activities unless authorised.

Dispute Began After Urvashi’s AI Interview

The controversy reportedly followed an interview in which Rautela was asked about Bollywood and artificial intelligence. During the conversation, she spoke about AI’s growing impact on Bollywood while also expressing her love for the Hindi film industry.

The company later responded to her comments, saying that it had not put those words in her mouth. The exchange subsequently escalated into the reported legal dispute over the alleged use of Rautela’s identity and content.

Sheeraz Hasan, founder and CEO of Bollywood.AI and Hollywood.AI, has responded to the reported ₹7,000-crore claim. According to reports, he described the demand as “ridiculous” and told Rautela to educate herself about artificial intelligence and its future role in entertainment.

Hasan also argued that AI could become increasingly important to the entertainment business, including through AI-generated films, short-form vertical dramas and digital characters capable of speaking multiple languages.

AI And Celebrity Identity Rights Become Bigger Issue

The dispute comes as celebrities and courts increasingly confront questions surrounding the unauthorised use of names, images, voices and digital likenesses through AI. Actors including Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Mohanlal have previously raised concerns about deepfakes, voice cloning and manipulated digital content.

For now, the ₹7,000-crore figure remains a damages claim announced by Rautela’s team, while the company has publicly disputed the allegations. Further details about any formal proceedings, the allegedly used content and the legal basis of the claim are awaited.
