Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has finally made his Instagram debut, ending years of staying away from public social media. The actor's arrival on the platform has caught attention for one particularly sweet reason: he follows only his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. Rather than making a grand announcement, Saif introduced himself with photographs from the Pataudi Library, giving fans a glimpse of his love for reading.
Saif Ali Khan Makes Instagram Debut, Follows Only Kareena Kapoor
Saif Ali Khan's public Instagram account, under the username @saifalikhanpataudi, surfaced in October 2026. The profile features a verified badge and initially had just one post, marking his first public appearance on the platform. What immediately caught everyone's attention was his following list. Saif chose to follow only Kareena Kapoor Khan, who also followed him back.
The development is particularly interesting because Saif has maintained a relatively private lifestyle despite being one of Bollywood's most recognised actors. Until now, fans largely depended on Kareena's Instagram updates and occasional family appearances to catch glimpses of his personal life.
Saif Ali Khan's First Instagram Post Features Pataudi Library
For his introductory Instagram post, Saif skipped the usual celebrity-style announcement and shared two photographs taken inside the Pataudi Library. Dressed in black, the actor appeared relaxed in the pictures. One photograph showed him posing inside the library, while another captured him reading a book.
He captioned the post, "Pataudi Library.. Judging books by their cover..." The photographs reflected Saif's well-known interest in literature and offered a personal introduction without revealing too much about his private life. Fans welcomed the actor in the comments, expressing excitement about finally seeing him on Instagram.

Why Saif Ali Khan Previously Avoided Social Media
Saif's Instagram debut is surprising considering his earlier comments about social media. During a 2024 interview, the actor revealed that he already had a secret Instagram account, which he occasionally used to browse content. However, he admitted that he did not particularly enjoy spending time on the application and frequently considered deleting it.
Saif also explained that staying away from public social media helped him avoid promotional obligations and maintain personal privacy. Nevertheless, he never completely dismissed the possibility of joining Instagram publicly. He had previously expressed an interest in photography and recording personal moments, suggesting that sharing such content could eventually appeal to him.
Saif Ali Khan's Instagram Account and Recent Film Haiwaan
As of October 12, 2026, Saif's public Instagram profile had attracted thousands of followers, while Kareena Kapoor Khan remained the only account he followed. His arrival comes amid his recent professional activities, including the psychological thriller Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan and featuring Akshay Kumar. The film reunited Saif and Akshay on screen after several years, adding another notable project to his filmography.
Although Saif now has a public Instagram presence, he has not announced any regular posting schedule or specific plans for sharing professional updates. For now, his understated library photographs and decision to follow only Kareena have made his social media debut a talking point among Bollywood followers.
