A legal dispute between Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken a significant turn after the actor reportedly sent a legal notice to the organization. Following the notice, FWICE has decided to withdraw its earlier action against the actor.

FWICE Takes a Step Back

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, FWICE President BN Tiwari announced that the organization had withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC)-related action issued against Ranveer Singh. According to Tiwari, the decision was taken after discussions with prominent industry bodies such as CINTAA and IMPAA.

The development comes shortly after Ranveer Singh's legal team reportedly challenged FWICE's stance, prompting the organization to reconsider its position.

Controversy Linked to ‘Don 3’

The roots of the dispute are believed to be connected to the much-anticipated film Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. Industry reports suggested that Ranveer Singh had exited the project at a crucial stage, leading to tensions between the actor and the film workers' body.

During the media interaction, FWICE's chief advisor Ashoke Pandit confirmed that the organization had received a legal notice from Ranveer Singh seeking the withdrawal of its order.

"We received the legal notice recently and our legal team will respond accordingly," Pandit stated. He also urged the actor to engage in direct discussions with the organization to resolve the matter amicably.

Pandit further clarified that FWICE does not possess the legal authority to impose a formal ban on any artist, emphasizing the need for dialogue rather than confrontation.

Ram Gopal Varma's Support Sparks Fresh Debate

The controversy escalated further when filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma publicly criticized FWICE on social media while expressing support for Ranveer Singh. His comments triggered a strong reaction from the organization.

Responding to Varma's criticism, Ashoke Pandit defended FWICE and rejected allegations that the body was engaging in unfair practices.

FWICE Raises Unpaid Dues Allegation

During the press conference, Pandit also made serious allegations against Ram Gopal Varma. He claimed that the filmmaker has pending dues exceeding ₹1 crore owed to technicians associated with the organization.

According to Pandit, the issue dates back to 2017, and Varma had reportedly assured FWICE through a written communication that the payments would be cleared by March 2019. However, the organization alleges that the dues remain unpaid even in 2026.

The fresh accusations have added another layer to an already complicated dispute, drawing attention from across the film industry.

What Happens Next?

With FWICE withdrawing its action against Ranveer Singh and both sides now involved in legal communication, industry observers will be closely watching how the matter unfolds. Whether the dispute is resolved through discussions or proceeds further through legal channels remains to be seen.
