I'm Game, which was eagerly awaited by actor Dulquer Salmaan, had faced some unforeseen challenges right from the first day of release because the Telugu edition of the movie had some shows that were cancelled or postponed due to failure of DCPS delivery in some centers in Hyderabad.

It had been released on a global basis on Thursday in five languages namely, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada. However, while the Malayalam version went ahead without any hitches in Kerala and other Malayalam speaking cities, the audience in Hyderabad faced some problems especially at the morning shows.

Several Telugu screenings of I'm Game in Hyderabad were said to be delayed or cancelled because the Digital Cinema Packages, which were needed to show the movie, had not been received by theaters. A DCP is the digital package of files necessary for screening of the movie in cinema.

The reason why there were several cancellations of screenings is that the movie could not be distributed in time. It meant that viewers had to wait for news about their screening schedules at the theaters concerned. The problem was not restricted to one show but rather affected several centers on the first day of the movie's premiere.

Hindi, Tamil And Kannada Shows Also Reportedly Affected

However, the disruption was not confined only to the release of the Telugu version, but also impacted those who had bought tickets for the Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada versions as well in some locations. The exception came from the Kerala and other markets where people speak in Malayalam since the Malayalam version of the movie was released as per schedule.

The disparity in the schedule in terms of the release of the Malayalam version and the dubbed languages brought to light the difficulty that exists in the distribution of the movie in various markets. The reason being each version will require its own DCP for showing the movie in the respective theaters.

Low Occupancy Also Played A Role In Some Cancellations

Although the absence of the DCPs was the main cause of this disruption, theatre operators also attributed low occupancy rates for certain shows that had been canceled. Some of the screenings allegedly did not even have many advanced bookings, which made it hard for theatres to run the show until they received the DCPs.

Thus, the cancellation of certain screenings could be due to both the delay in distribution and low advance ticket sales. This problem was compounded by the fact that the audience had already bought tickets to the film.

I'm Game Had Already Faced A Release Delay

The recent distribution issue has followed an initial delay in the release of the movie that was already supposed to have released on August 20. In fact, it had been announced by Dulquer Salmaan that the reason behind the delay was that the film deserved a bigger reach.

However, the film managed to release internationally, but now there has been yet another problem with its release on its release day in Hyderabad. Right now, the issue seems to be focused on certain theaters and particular language versions of the film's screening only and not on the total canceling of the theatrical release of the film.
