BTS made history in Mexico City when they were able to meet with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum before their ARIRANG tour concerts at the National Palace. This encounter rapidly transformed into a highly anticipated fan gathering, with around 50,000 fans waiting in anticipation outside the Zócalo.
The seven group members made an appearance on the balcony of the National Palace along with the President of Mexico, greeting the fans who were present in their hundreds in the historic square wearing BTS branded purple clothing and lightsticks.

BTS Meets Mexican President at National Palace
As per reports, BTS had an interaction with President Claudia Sheinbaum prior to meeting their fans at the palace gates. In this interaction, Sheinbaum was reported to have commended the band for delivering messages of “peace, friendship and hope” through their songs and their international fame.
Pictures that were taken during this interaction depicted BTS members carrying copies of their recently released album, ARIRANG, standing beside the President. This particular moment became a trending topic in no time.
50,000 Fans Gather at Mexico City’s Zócalo
With the buzz about BTS arriving on social media, thousands of fans flocked to the Zócalo on a short notice released 5 hours before, which is the famous plaza near the National Palace in Mexico City. It was estimated that nearly 50,000 fans had gathered there.

The fans were seen waving ARMY bombs, singing BTS songs, and shouting enthusiastically as the group members made their way onto the balcony. Fans had reportedly spent the night camping in the area in hopes of catching the performance in person.
Videos taken from the square depicted a highly emotional scene as BTS addressed the crowd in Spanish.

BTS’ ARIRANG Tour Creates Massive Demand
The concert in Mexico is part of BTS current ARIRANG world tour, which represents the band’s comeback after completing their military duty and releasing the comeback album called Arirang.
BTS will be giving three sold-out concerts in Mexico City on May 7, May 9, and May 10. It is said that there were over 135,000 sold-out tickets, and the demand for more shows kept increasing.
According to reports, President Sheinbaum herself asked for additional BTS concerts in Mexico due to massive fan demand, but scheduling issues prevented the addition of new concerts.

Fans Celebrate BTS Return After Military Hiatus
This tour is also significant because it marks the first time BTS have been able to engage in international activities following their mandatory service period. The album they have launched called “ARIRANG” has been highly successful, both commercially and in fan reactions.
