Amitabh Bachchan has strongly criticised sections of the media for allegedly misrepresenting his recent social media post dedicated to Lord Krishna. The veteran actor clarified that his use of the devotional phrase “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” was a prayer and not a challenge directed at his opponents, as suggested by a media report.
Expressing his anger over the interpretation, Big B accused certain outlets of twisting his words for publicity and disrespecting religious sentiments. He also issued a strong warning, referring to his 50 million followers and claiming that 10 per cent of them were ready to respond if he gave a signal.
Amitabh Bachchan Clarifies Meaning of His Lord Krishna Post

The controversy began after Amitabh Bachchan shared a social media post featuring the phrase “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” on October 29. The devotional chant is associated with Lord Krishna and is commonly used as an expression of faith. However, a media report interpreted his words as a challenge to his opponents, suggesting that the actor was asking them to bring their elephants and horses while declaring that he would fight back.
Bachchan strongly objected to this interpretation. In his response, he explained that the phrase was an invocation to Krishna Kanhaiya and not a message directed at anyone. He described the alleged misrepresentation as a grave insult to the religious chant, questioning why a devotional expression was being presented as a confrontational statement.
Big B Warns Media About His 50 Million Followers
In a strongly worded message addressed to media outlets, Bachchan referred to his massive online following and warned that even a small section of his supporters could respond if he gave them a signal. “Sun lo kaan pakad ke media waalon! 50 million ki abaadi hai humare followers ki, media waalon. Jis din humne ishara kiya, toh unmein se keval 10 pratishat hi thokne ke liye taiyaar baithe hain,” he wrote.
The actor further stated that the more his words were twisted and criticised, the greater the response his extended family, or EF, could deliver. His remarks quickly attracted attention because of the strong language used while addressing sections of the media. The reference to 10 per cent of his followers became one of the most widely discussed parts of his post.

Amitabh Bachchan Calls Out Media's Reporting

Bachchan also shared the headline that had upset him, questioning how a devotional reference could be presented as a challenge to his opponents. He criticised the reporting as disrespectful to faith and accused certain media outlets of changing the meaning of his words to attract attention.
The actor also referred to sections of the media as the country's “Fifth Column”, expressing disappointment with what he considered irresponsible reporting. He questioned the accountability of media organisations and argued that mistakes should be acknowledged rather than repeatedly defended. His criticism was particularly directed at the way the original religious reference had allegedly been taken out of context and presented to readers.
Big B Says Mistakes Should Be Acknowledged and Corrected
Towards the end of his message, Amitabh Bachchan addressed the issue of accountability, saying that mistakes can happen but those responsible should apologise and make an effort to correct them. He pointed out that when he makes a mistake, he tries to acknowledge it immediately and make amends. He questioned why the same standard should not apply to media organisations.
The actor's strong response has brought renewed attention to the original Lord Krishna post and the subsequent interpretation of his words. While his comments have sparked discussion about media responsibility and the influence of celebrity followers, Bachchan's central clarification remains that his original phrase was a devotional invocation, not a challenge to his opponents.
