Priyanka Chopra Jonas (nee Chopra) was born on July 18, 1982, in Jamshedpur, India, to Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Chopra, both physicians in the Indian Army. Growing up in a military family meant she experienced a diverse and dynamic childhood, living in different parts of India due to her parents postings.

She began her schooling at La Martiniere Girls College as a boarding student. She later attended Maria Goretti College before moving to the United States for further studies. After completing her tenth grade in Boston, she initially aspired to pursue a career in software engineering or criminal psychology.

Beyond academics, Priyanka developed a strong interest in the arts and literature. She enjoys Indian music and dance, writes poetry and short stories, and is an avid reader with a particular fondness for biographies. Alongside her creative pursuits, she has actively participated in numerous social welfare initiatives, reflecting her commitment to community service and social causes.
