Yoo Seung Ho has reflected on his darker role in Flex X Cop 2, his growing interest in photography and his desire to reveal sides of himself that audiences have not seen before. In a recent interview and pictorial, the actor opened up about playing villain Yoo Sung Won and the creative changes he has experienced while preparing for his first photography exhibition.
The project gave Yoo Seung Ho an opportunity to move away from the brighter image associated with some of his previous roles. He also revealed that he hopes to keep challenging himself with characters and creative activities that allow him to explore unfamiliar parts of his personality.
Yoo Seung Ho Opens Up About His Villain Role
Yoo Seung Ho played Yoo Sung Won in Flex X Cop 2, marking his first villain role in 14 years. The character is a wealthy, world-renowned sculptor who appears charming and harmless on the surface but hides a much darker personality.
The actor explained that he worked closely with the director from the beginning to create Sung Won's distinctive habits and behaviour. One particularly unsettling element was the character's fascination with corpses, while his tendency to treat people almost like objects was another trait Yoo Seung Ho wanted to communicate.
He had initially hoped to establish recurring behaviours that viewers could recognise throughout the drama. However, because Sung Won did not have as many scenes as he expected, Yoo Seung Ho decided to leave some of those details out rather than introduce them without enough time to make them meaningful.

Flex X Cop 2 Gave Him A Chance To Explore Good And Evil
For Yoo Seung Ho, the appeal of Flex X Cop 2 went beyond simply playing a villain. He said he appreciated the opportunity to show different sides of himself as an actor and explore the reasons behind the good and evil within a character. The actor connected this experience to an earlier period of his career, recalling that the last time he had explored such contrasting sides through acting was likely during I Miss You.
That was one reason he agreed to the project even before finishing the entire script. He felt the drama could allow him to portray characters whose ways of thinking were very different from his own. The experience appears to have strengthened his interest in roles that challenge his existing image rather than simply repeating familiar performances.

Yoo Seung Ho Prepares For First Photography Exhibition
Yoo Seung Ho is also stepping behind the camera with his first film photography exhibition, BLUE HOUR. The exhibition opened on October 3 and features photographs taken during his travels in the United States and Mongolia. The actor admitted that preparing the exhibition brought a different kind of pressure.
While he is accustomed to being judged as an actor, he acknowledged that he would still be disappointed if people considered his photographs poor. At the same time, the process has helped him understand photography in a new way. He said he wants visitors to enjoy the exhibition while also accepting that criticism is naturally part of sharing creative work.

Actor Wants To Discover More Sides Of Himself
Yoo Seung Ho said his attitude toward photography changed while preparing BLUE HOUR. He learned that photographing the same subject multiple times can produce completely different results, and he also began experimenting with different camera angles and eye levels.
Previously, he often photographed subjects from above. Now, he has found that lowering himself and making eye contact with the subject can create an entirely different feeling. His interest in travelling has also grown after his experience in Mongolia. He particularly enjoyed photographing everyday life and people in unfamiliar places, and he hopes to continue travelling and developing his photographic style.
Beyond photography, Yoo Seung Ho said there is still a side of himself he wants to discover through acting. Given the right opportunity, he wants to completely immerse himself in a project and meet the version of himself capable of portraying a character with fierce intensity.
Final Take
Yoo Seung Ho's latest interview shows an actor actively looking beyond familiar roles. From creating the unsettling Yoo Sung Won in Flex X Cop 2 to exploring film photography through BLUE HOUR, he is using new creative experiences to reveal darker, quieter and more intense sides of himself.
