Marvel Studios is preparing to bring the X-Men back to the big screen with a new generation of mutants, and the upcoming reboot is already generating plenty of buzz. Several actors are reportedly being lined up for major roles, with Kit Connor and Samara Weaving among the latest names linked to the project.
While Marvel has yet to officially announce the complete cast or confirm every character, reports suggest that both actors have landed prominent roles in the highly anticipated reboot. The movie is currently expected to arrive in 2028, although an exact release date has not been announced.
Kit Connor Reportedly Playing Cyclops
According to reports from Deadline, Kit Connor is set to portray Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops. The character is one of the most recognizable members of the X-Men and has traditionally served as one of the team's key leaders.
Cyclops was previously portrayed by James Marsden in the earlier X-Men film series. Marsden is also expected to return to the Marvel universe in Avengers: Doomsday, adding another connection between the franchise's past and its upcoming future.
Connor rose to international fame as Nick Nelson in Netflix's popular coming-of-age series Heartstopper. His other credits include Rocketman, Warfare and Heartstopper Forever. Taking on Cyclops would mark a major step for the young actor as he moves into one of Marvel's most established superhero franchises.
Samara Weaving Reportedly Takes on Emma Frost
Australian actress Samara Weaving is reportedly joining the reboot as Emma Frost, a powerful mutant and an important character in Marvel's X-Men mythology.
Emma Frost is known for her telepathic abilities and her distinctive diamond-form transformation. The role also gives Weaving an opportunity to bring her experience in horror and genre films to a major superhero production.
Weaving has become particularly recognizable for her performances in movies such as Ready or Not, The Babysitter, Mayhem and Scream VI. Her reported casting as Emma Frost could make her one of the standout additions to the new mutant lineup.

Sadie Sink Expected to Play Jean Grey
Sadie Sink is also expected to be part of Marvel's plans for the X-Men reboot, with the actress linked to the role of Jean Grey.
Sink's connection to the character reportedly began with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where she appeared as the mutant. Her future as Jean Grey is expected to continue into the larger X-Men storyline.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Sink indicated that she already has some knowledge about what lies ahead for her Marvel character, although she suggested that the project is still developing and that scripts may not yet be in place.
The actress compared the experience to working on Stranger Things, explaining that she was familiar with knowing another chapter was coming without necessarily having all the details mapped out.
Sink also acknowledged the huge amount of speculation surrounding the movie's casting. According to the actress, while there are plenty of rumors circulating online, she knows which information is genuine and is excited about what Marvel has planned.
What We Know About the X-Men Reboot
Marvel Studios has kept many details about the new X-Men movie under wraps. However, reports indicate that the studio is assembling a fresh cast to introduce the iconic mutant team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With Kit Connor reportedly playing Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Sadie Sink expected as Jean Grey, the reboot could feature a younger and very different interpretation of the famous superhero team.
The film is currently targeting a 2028 release, potentially during the spring, though Marvel has not yet revealed a final release date. More casting announcements and story details are expected as production moves forward.
For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation from Marvel before treating the reported roles as finalized. If the current reports prove accurate, however, the new X-Men lineup could become one of the most talked-about additions to the MCU.
