One Night Only is a romantic comedy, whose director is Will Gluck and main actors are Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Maya Hawke, Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton. One of the weirdest concepts that the filmmakers came up with is brought to life in the most chaotic way. The movie is based on the idea of a world where it's forbidden to have any intimate relations before marriage except for one single day in a year. The idea, which could be further developed into political satire, is turned into an entertaining rom-com in which something funny and enjoyable happens.

One Night Only Story Overview
Allie (played by Monica Barbaro) and Owen (Callum Turner) are two single inhabitants of New York who are getting ready for that one special day in a year which sees the legal permission of physical intimacy between unmarried individuals. Instead of an easy date, however, Allie and Owen soon find themselves entangled in a whole bunch of awkward and bizarre incidents that happen as they try to make their way through the city.
The oddity of their surroundings is revealed quite rapidly but the movie spends very little time trying to figure out how society evolved into such strange social structure. Instead, the peculiar circumstances serve mostly as an excuse for Allie and Owen to meet and have some crazy night together. Everything else happens in pursuit of finding something deeper than mere craziness.

One Night Only Review: Absurd Premise, Winning Chemistry
The major merit of the movie is that it does not take its absurd premise very seriously. Will Gluck manages to make the bizarre laws an integral part of the life and creates several amusing episodes. The screenplay is successful when it focuses mainly on the relationships between Allie and Owen and not on the society as a whole. The interaction of the two gives the movie an emotional core, while the humor maintains the plotline.
Nevertheless, the premise could be developed much more elaborately, for the society which regulates the time of intimacy of the unmarried is an ideal basis for the development of irony, but the movie ignores it. Still, the playful attitude to the premise keeps the movie light and entertaining.

Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner Shine
One of the best features of Allie is Monica Barbaro, who not only manages to bring warmth and confidence to the character but also manages to keep her down-to-earth enough to sell the romance angle. On the other hand, Callum Turner is great in his role of Owen with his awkward charm fitting into the comedy theme of the movie just right. The chemistry between the two actors is definitely one of the best things about the movie, particularly in the quieter scenes where they have a chance to connect. Also, the likes of Maya Hawke, Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton manage to lend their characters some personality.
#WillGluck's ONE NIGHT ONLY is an endearing and genuinely funny film, that reminds us that real connection and true essence should always be spearheading our search for love. With jokes aplenty, two super charismatic leads and a great soundtrack

Final Verdict
One Night Only is a movie that takes an outrageous idea and presents it as a light and crazy romantic comedy. It does not fully investigate all the social underpinnings of its premise, yet it does not have to do so to be entertaining. The main reasons why you should see it are Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner. Their chemistry gives the movie its heart, while the ridiculous events, humor, and cameos make the night go by.
Rating: 3/5
Overall, One Night Only is a fun one-time watch that works best as a silly, fast-moving rom-com. It leaves some of its best ideas unexplored, but the lead pair's chemistry makes the ride worthwhile.
