Streaming giant Netflix has revealed fresh details about its investments and profits over the last 10 years, highlighting how the platform became one of the biggest names in global entertainment. The company shared figures related to its spending on movies and television content, along with its contribution to the entertainment industry and worldwide economy.
Netflix Spent Over $135 Billion on Content
According to the company’s latest statement, Netflix invested more than $135 billion between 2016 and 2026 on films, web series, and television productions. In Indian currency, this amount is estimated to be around ₹13 lakh crore. The streaming platform stated that this massive investment helped it strengthen its position as the leader in the OTT entertainment space.
The company also mentioned that the growing popularity of on-demand entertainment has played a major role in its rapid expansion over the past decade.
Huge Profits and Economic Contribution
After investing heavily in entertainment content, Netflix reportedly generated profits worth over ₹20 lakh crore during the same period. The company further claimed that its operations contributed more than $325 billion to the global economy, which is estimated to be over ₹31 lakh crore in Indian currency.
Apart from financial growth, Netflix also highlighted its role in employment generation. The platform said that more than 4.25 lakh jobs were created globally through productions, filming projects, and related entertainment activities.

These figures showcase how Netflix has managed to dominate the digital streaming industry while continuing to expand its influence worldwide.
Non-English Shows Became Global Hits
Netflix also emphasized the growing popularity of non-English content on its platform. The company revealed that international shows and films now account for more than one-third of the total viewing hours on Netflix. A decade ago, this share was reportedly less than 10 percent.
The success of international productions helped Netflix attract audiences from different parts of the world. The company specifically mentioned globally successful titles such as Money Heist, Squid Game, and K-Pop Demon Hunters as examples of shows that boosted its worldwide popularity.

The increasing demand for regional and foreign-language entertainment has become one of the biggest reasons behind Netflix’s global success in recent years.
