DC Review: Stylish Action Meets Emotional Storytelling
In Arun Matheswaran's movie, the themes of revenge, grief, and justice come into play yet again, but with a level of certainty and style never seen before. The script hooks the viewer with the help of thrilling action scenes and twists. Though the theme of revenge is quite traditional, it is made interesting by the director's approach to it as well as by its stylish representation. First part of the movie passes in a swift manner, whereas second part gives an emotional satisfaction even if it gets somewhat predictable at some moments.
Lead Cast Performance
Kanagaraj pulls off his acting debut impressively, managing both the emotional and action sequences of the movie quite easily. He becomes more assured as the movie goes on, becoming a credible character of Devadas. Wamiqa Gabbi offers an elegant and emotionally moving performance that adds some warmth to an otherwise very harsh tale. The rest of the cast members have done an admirable job too. The on-screen chemistry between Kanagaraj and Gabbi is quite good and helps offset the darker parts of the movie.

Technical Aspects and Visual Tone
The cinematography of DC is something which is very slick and edgy and compliments the directorial style of Arun Matheswaran very well. There is no action scene which is not framed with confidence because the violence is quite cinematic in nature. The background score by Anirudh Ravichander is the highlight of the movie as he adds immense energy to the emotional and action scenes alike. The editing of the movie maintains the pace of the movie quite well, while the action scenes have been choreographed nicely.
