A veteran actress and mimicry artist, Aasha Singh Jaiswal, has died in Mumbai at the age of 66. The artist died on August 22 at about 7:30 pm, which was confirmed by her son, Akkash Bharadwaj. Aasha's funeral ceremony took place on August 23 at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai.

Aasha Singh Jaiswal is remembered as a versatile actress and performer. In addition to being an actor in TV shows and films, she was a pioneer woman mimicry artist, and was well-known especially for mimicking the famous actress Meena Kumari.

Aasha Singh Jaiswal was introduced to viewers through the famous TV show Mahabharat by B R Chopra. She played the character of Kripi, who was the sister of Kripacharya, wife of Dronacharya and the mother of Ashwathama.

This role in the famous TV serial is one of the most remembered ones in her acting career. This famous TV show provided Aasha the opportunity to be a part of the most famous mythological TV serial of India.

She Was Also A Pioneering Mimicry Artist

Apart from her acting skills, Aasha Singh Jaiswal was recognized for her ability to perform mimicry. She was considered to be one of the first ladies to prove herself as an artist in this art form and was especially popular for imitating Meena Kumari’s voice and mannerism.

Aasha’s son Akkash Bharadwaj made an emotional announcement on social media about the demise of his mother who is known to be an “Iron Lady”. She was dedicated to her profession.

Her family confirmed that she died in Mumbai on August 22, and the funeral proceedings were held the next day. Her death evoked reactions from the audience as well as the entertainment fraternity.

She was a multi-talented personality whose career included work in the fields of television, movies and theater. From her memorable character in Mahabharat to mimicry, she had left her mark in the field of entertainment in India.
